Our clinic has recently upgraded its Isokinetics system from the Cybex 600 to the very latest digital CSMI Humac Norm.
CSMI have totally redeveloped the CSMI Norm with new software, with improved performance coming from a new Digital Servo System enabling it to give increased eccentric power, increased accuracy and a smoother overall feel to the various types of resisting and assessment modes.
With the new advanced software and extra powerful servo system the Norm is now able to offer speeds up to 500 deg. per second and torque values of 500ft-lbs/678Nm in both eccentric and concentric modes.
The Norm can perform 42 pre-set joint patterns, 22 isolated and 20 combined, as standard.
Measurement & Exercise Modes
The Humac Norm offers SEVEN primary measurement and exercise solutions.
These are performed to assess and improve mobility, stability, control and strength.
The system also offers FOUR types of resistance/movement and THREE contraction cycle types with numerous feedback options and over fifty types of reports to meet these goals.
Passive Mode (cpm or active assisted)
Develop the mobility that the patient requires, from straight pattern movements to complex PNF patterns. Also very useful with the weakest of patients to stimulate eccentric muscle contraction and proprioception.
Perform multi-angle isometric tests and exercises to safely stabilise the joint while avoiding painful ranges of motion. Passive and active isometric modes. Pre-activation levels for each motion.
Also useful for proprioceptive training & joint position sense.
Facilitate neuromuscular improvement with functional isotonic concentric/eccentric resistance coupled with user defined velocity based feedback displays.
The most efficient way to improve strength is with isokinetic resistance and the main reason why our clinic has had isokinetic stations since we opened in 1989. This latest model allows us to choose:-
Traditional Concentric/Concentric, Concentric/Eccentric to simulate real-time injury prevention.
Eccentric/Eccentric mode is available for research.
Gravity elimination is available for early rehabilitation.
Limitation of ballistic forces is also available in each isokinetic mode.
Minimal torque values can be set to allow progressive rehabilitation.
Split isokinetic speeds can be used for optimal strength rehabilitation.
In keeping with many modern pieces of fitness equipment, Games are included to increase strength and/or proprioception.
These modes allow exercise and longitudinal testing to take place without the perception of clinical exercise.
Joint Position Sense (proprioceptive) - We can assess and re-educate joint position sense using passive or active actions/games.
Kinaesthetic Sense (proprioceptive) - We can assess and re-educate speed of joint motion sense using passive or active actions/games.
All of the modes can be used in any order in a mixed protocol allowing the ultimate in flexibility, for example :
The latest CSMI software was designed to enable the user to go from patient setup to report in hand as quickly as possible.
With a new ballistic mode, interactive games and training screens, plus easy retrieval and export of patient data, which gives your clinician the ability to analyse and move data to wherever it is needed.
All data is stored in raw state within the database of the Norm and can be quickly exported to Excel for analysis.
The records will be stored in your clinical notes and will be available to you at any time and as an added bonus - we will give you a hard copy to take away with you!
